Grease-filled dies are very, very common. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it unless you can find a couple of bidiots who want it. Chris
That looks more sand blasted than struck through since there's no luster at all showing on that coin. All of the features are flattened like they've been rubbed down.
I'm pretty sure that's a zincoln. If it was sandblasted or sanded down, then the 8 micron thin copper plating over the zinc core would be gone in areas and you would see the zinc. Try using sandpaper on a zincoln to emulate. with a grease filled die, it doesn't affect the copper plating. Just a softness in the image.
I have no doubt is was struck through, I was just saying it looked like it had been scrubbed from the dull appearance. Yes, true sandblasting would have peeled off the outer layer in a heartbeat. I should have chosen my words more carefully.
That's a great greaser. An extreme example so I'd keep it. Not worth but a few dollars to the right person.
I've found a few I think. I keep any big time greasers that I come across. I usually just toss them into an old medicine bottle.
