I have this 1924 wheat penny and I noticed what looks to me like a die crack or lamination error what do you all think maybe a strikethrough error?

That appears to be damage,a deep cut in a swerving like pattern,it had a rough life.

Putting on my Pareidolia hat, I see Sicily in the "T" of the word "Cent" to the right of the coin. I also see the top area of the boot of Italy in the "C" of the word "Cent" to the left of the coin. It's a reverse imprint map of Italy and Sicily.

I’m thinking it was a planchet defect before it was minted.

So I'm confused is this an error or damage? Is it worth anything?

A planchet defect would be considered a mint error. The planchet was blank and then the design was pressed into it. If I’m correct it’s not damaged, just the blank planchet had a defect in it before the coin was minted. Not worth a lot but nice to have one and nicer to find it yourself.
