Trying to avoid duplicates in my type set, so one ship will be sailing. Both coins have nice luster, but A has a superior strike and B superior color with an incredibly weak strike.

Which coin do you find more appealing overall? Please vote in the attached poll.

Went for the gorgeously struck and very lustrous A.

A might someday get attractive toning, but B will never grow a good strike.

    A for me, great strike.

Thanks all for sharing your preferences... results are interesting so far considering B sold on Legend a year ago for over six times what I paid for A. I would guess that there being a limited supply of these for folks out there doing toned commemorative sets would explain that.

You've gotta keep that strongly struck A coin.

I would have gone for B had it not been for the gouge through "G" in GOD. For early commemoratives I prefer vibrant rim toning and subtle, even central as that in B.

Not a gouge, just a dark spot... not sure how or why it appears that way.

I am shocked most would prefer coin A. I don’t like the dark toning near the edge. Coin B has so much more eye-appeal that I wouldn’t let it go...

While I can appreciate the strike of A, I prefer the eye appeal of B. That is weird for me, because normally I really like a strong strike. However, I feel that with early commems, far more people enjoy fantastic toning than care about a strong strike. There just aren't enough specialists focused on each issue that care or understand about the strike.

Plus, the eye appeal of A is... kinda blah. It appears to have strong luster, but the toning is sorta unappealing.

Just my impression, but overall I'd rather own B than A.

While B has beautiful color, A is just WOW to me!

I say B. The reverse is enchanting and spirits me off to a simpler time.

Strike - at least in this case. Could be different between two other coins though.
