my newest finds over the last few months 2 birthday notes 02-10-1957 01-20-2010 + trinary cutting error (I believe) bookend 7's 77602877 lastly a trinary repeater 9303-9303 and a few mini radars
I only dabble in bills ( nothing serious ) but I would think a "consecutive" strap would be worth more than a 100 random stars wouldn't it?
I don't do many strap, I may get my cash for my box of coins I dump in one dollar bill straps, best things I found were some stars and a Barr note. I accidentally never kept a web note and a low serial number (four zeros) note.
I've been searching my register and the safe at CVS for stars and old currency for a 3 months now, so far I've found: 1x 1928G 2$; 4x 1957 1$ Silver certificates (one was a star); 50x 1$ FRN stars (common runs); 8x 1$ FRN stars (runs of 640K); 10x 20$ FRN stars (common runs); 2x 20$ FRN stars (1 run of 640K and 1 of 480K); 6x 10$ FRN stars (common runs), 8x 5$ FRN stars (common runs); 1x 2013 5$ FRN star AU (common run); 1x 5$ FRN star (run of 640K); 1x 1990 50$ FRN star (common run). Conditions ranged from G-VF, with one 5$ star in AU condition. I've always just looked for silver and old coins, but now I look for paper currency too.
Web notes came out in 3 series, 1$ 1988A, 1$ 1993 and 1$ 1995. You can spot them easily enough if you look for the missing plate position found on the upper left of regular note obverses. An uncut sheet can be found easily enough by its S/N range. The BEP uses numbers higher than those for circulation for sheets to prevent fakers passing off fake error miscuts. From the 80's-present Sheet S/N are above 96 million. Older sheets - before the BEP advertised that you can request sheets and offered them as collector items - are really low serials, usually the first few sheets of a print (if any).
Happy Easter, fellow hunters. Just found 4 nice notes while searching 2000 1$ at CVS this week. 2006 1$ D00325137* (640K) 2009 1$ G03810725* (640K) 2009 1$ G00004937F 2013 1$ E88648864A (AU) In addition to 4x 1$ star notes (3.2 million) and a 5$ star.
Searched 9 stacks of 1$ FRN and 1 stack of 5$s. (6x) 1$ star notes, only 1 was semi-key with 640K. The till had (2x) 5$ stars, and got a 20$ star from a customer.
Awe, so close to a true repeater. Still a nice Binary repeater. Thanks for sharing. Nice Find. I see creases on the corners, so it looks XF or maybe even AU. It's from a common run of 3.2 million. The low serial helps, so you can get probably 120$- 130$.
Nice find. Who doesn't like Crisp *s. The first in that strap would have been a Radar (10955901), and the tenth would have been a nice bookend to compliment the radar if kept together.
Yes it was but the guy whom I got these notes from kept the first 20 notes. So I was just happy to get the numbers I wanted.
Are any of the following notes worth keeping. Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to this. is the second one down worth keeping, and does it make the rest more valuable? Also found the following Star notes and
