Just for the heck of it really, I picked a year (1999) and save all the notes I get 99 & older. If I ever need $ to purchase something else, I can always spend em.
Hi everyone...new member here and avid ocd star/fancy collector.ive enjoyed reading these posts..very educational
Hey, :welcome: to CT! What part of Washington state are you from? If you go strap searching, post your finds here! -tbud
From eastern washington...i have the privledge of handling many $1's at work...i find stars almost daily.I'll post a few of my best finds soon.whats the best way of trading with members here?
I agree with t-bud, for the most part. Setting strap finds, and circ finds aside, is a good way to save money, and that is one reason why I collect. If I have some cool, older notes hanging around, it usually makes me think twice, before spending that money on some frivolous thing. It makes me stop and say, would I rather have this note, or would I rather spend it. The note usually wins out. It's also a good emergency fund....and by emergency, I mean a matter of life and death. It gives me peace of mind to know I have that money there, should something very serious come up, and in the meantime, I can enjoy the notes. There are a few notes I have that I'm quite fond of, though, and would never spend. When I'm old and grey, and my time here is done, I intend on passing those down to my kids, if I have them, or my nieces and nephews. I also collect/save notes because I just flat out enjoy the hobby. I find it to be a lot of fun. I always get kind of a mini rush, whenever I find an older note, a star, or an interesting serial number, and it almost always makes my day. So, those are my reasons.
Had time to go through 1 strap of 100 $1's this morning. Here are my finds: 2 1995's, an A-A, and a G-B. 1 1999, an F-K. 1 2006, a B-B (short run of 6.4 mil, Fort Worth note). Also found 3 star notes: A 1995 G*, a 2003 B*, and a 2009 D*. So, not a bad haul, I'd say.
For one strap, most definitely not. It's always exciting (for me anyways) to find a star from '99 or earlier. I've been on the lookout for an '09 $1 D-*. I suppose with people starting to find them, I will have mine soon.
All singles: 1988A H-G 1995 I-K & H-K I found a relatively nicer 1999 L-N and a K-A 2 2006 G-*'s 2006 F-* 640k run
I got these in a couple straps today, all $1 : Cool Serials : 2006 D 77224422 C 2006 C 00015852 A 2006 E 00013716 A 2009 L 00542598 F 2006 A 21357648 C <- thought that was cool because it has 1-8 no repeat digits, then I started looking for them and there were several, I wouldn't think they would be that common Also had a couple birthdays if anyone wants to check : # : 83195314, 19398824, 19644204, 85842007, 21926396, 86771964, 09219484 If any of those birthday dates are yours and you would want the note, I would be happy to send it out to you.
My first attempt at stack searching. I just asked for as many straps they had to spare, they came back with 6 very used stacks of bills. Guessing nothing super special here but was still fun looking.
Placed an order for 5 straps of $2 from my local credit union last week. They called me today to come pick them up. I arrived and gave them my ID and they said one sec and went into the day vault and came back with 5 BEP straps of 500 consecutive 2003A Series L notes. Starting with L 35343501 so nothing fancy and zero stars. But I do have 500 crisp shinny new bills that I seem to be stuck with, as I was handed the stack she asked me if I pick out certain ones I said yes and she then said well you know we can't take these back! So it seems I can't make a deposit into my own account legal U.S. currency. Go figure. Edit: I guess after doing some reading on the roll searching threads it's bad form to dump a bunch of stuff they can't move very easy back on them. So I'm going to pay my property tax with them Friday
