Anything and everything. old web 295 radar repeater ladder low fancy SN Do I need to go on? Do you only look for star notes?
Specifically, what series do you call "old"? No way, I save all that and some. I collect all stars, Series 1995 and earlier (Web falls under this category although I have yet to find one), fancy S/N's (trinaries, binaries, solids, radars, ladders, repeaters, etc), 4 digt and lower S/N's, errors (295 is an error), anything consecutive that's Series 2006 and earlier, bills from uncut sheets, I could go on and on... Keep in mind that bigger cities are less likely to have goods because money is circulated so much more. I usually drive out to small towns outside the cities and I have found my best bills there. Good luck!
Today's more than average strap finds: 1981 $1 L-* (finally!! I found a $1 * older than 1988A in a strap!!) 1981 $1 L-F 1985 $1 L-M 1985 $1 A-D 1995 $1's L-L, J-F, J-Q, H-D, D-E, and D-C 2003A $1 F-* 2006 $1 AU G-* & I92828988A 2009 $1 L51444144J & E02420400A You couldn't imagine how big my eyes got when I saw that '81 * I also picked up a few items from some of my favorite tellers: 1988A $10 F-B 1974 $20 G-E 1995 $20 L-A Not a bad day at all, IMO...
A couple of straps today: 2006 G 05977369* 2006 F 19656200 G (June 20, 1965 birthday note? An extra zero, but what do you think?) 2006 B 04282013 F (Birthday note for next year) 2009 A 24244949 A A sort of repeater note. Keeper?
please help me out....what are you saying is common? A birthday note in general or ones for April 28, 2013? I thought true 8 digit birthday notess are hard to come by (I've not found many)...
My apologies on the birthday note. It is a keeper. I thought you were simply pointing out the 2013 part but now I see the bigger picture.
Just 2 singles today; 2 $1's both 1995 L-I (nice and crisp) and a K-C. I picked up a 1985 $20 L-B and a 1995 $10 G-A from my tellers.
I would consider the following to be birthday notes: J03171992B or J19920317B which would be Mar. 17, 1992.
So, with the new series 2009 $2's being printed, and some recent evidence posted online, that they are now entering circulation, I got the bug to search through some $2's, today. To be perfectly honest, I was hoping that I would find some new '09's (while realizing at the same time, that finding any this soon would be VERY unlikely) and I had no such luck (surprise, surprise). However, I did find these I-9 2003A's, which was pretty cool. These are from a short run, so I was pretty happy to find them: Not sure I'm going to keep all 3, but I will be hanging onto at least 1 for the collection.
The series 2009 $2's are alreay in circulation. There is a pair of NY Star notes on eBay selling for what I would call pretty good money, and they are not even centered well.http://www.ebay.com/itm/200767035461?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Oh, I know that they are already in circulation. What I was trying to say was, that I was hoping to find some new ones today, but wasn't counting on it, since they have been released, recently. It usually takes some time before new notes start showing up. I didn't start seeing 2009 $5's in circ, until about 4/5 months ago. I saw that auction, btw. It seems pretty crazy that the price has reached as high as it has. I just can't see paying that much over face for those notes, but hey, to each his own.
For the amount of $1's I went through, I am disappointed in today's catches: 1995's: L-M, L-N, L-W, J-I J-R, H-E. 2006: L32337377R. On the brighter side, I was able to snatch a 1988A $20 L-H from one of my tellers.
I only did one strap today and found another birthday note, though the month and day are reversed. 1979 22 June Series 2006: D 19792206 G b
No strap searching today, but some tweak that owed me $ thought it'd be cool to pay me back in singles. I normally would have thrown it back in his face and considered it as an insult :dead-horse:, but the $1 on top was a nice crisp 1974 E-E, so I took them. :thumb:
