So, this will be a very simple contest...but with a twist. Guess closest to the correct date and time of the event, win a PCGS PR69 DCAM First Strike Silver Proof Gettysburg quarter. That's all there is to it. The twist: I'm not telling what the event is. It may happen within the next hour, it may happen a year from now. To ensure that I don't simply randomly pick a user to give a quarter to, I've already informed one Coin Talk member of what the event I'm monitoring is. That member is not eligible to win the prize, but might just post a guess anyway. You never know. The event is Coin Talk related, and the final date and time of the event will be verifiable by any CT member after it occurs. Closest guess wins the prize. In the event of a tie, the youngest member (age, not CT time) will be selected. Each member gets 3 guesses. Each guess should include a date and time. We will use Central Time. Since none of you know what the event IS, guesses will be accepted right up until the moment event occurs. =============== Enjoy, and good luck.
11/11/11 11:11:11:11 Even more accurate than Tylercw7's The unix time was a joke, but did you consider seconds in your time we are attempting to guess or were you planning to just round to the nearest minute or even hour? I bet not, so how do you determine if someone is closer if they picked the same time if they don't specify seconds, milliseconds, etc.
I'd say you'd want to just tell people to at least do 24 hour format so there's no confusion. If someone picked 12:00 and that was the time picked but they lacked to specify am or pm, 24 hour format would work best so there's not confusion.
Alright 11/11/11 at 11:11:11:11:11 PM Central Daylight Time 11/11/11 at 11:11:11:11:11 AM Central Daylight Time You didnt specify what timezone
Shall i have everyone resubmit their guesses in increments of cycles of a caesium-133 atom, using the international standard of 9192631770 / second? Gosh, I dunno rodeoclown..maybe we'd consider it a TIE and break the tie as already described. Moving on... People can submit in either format, it'll be just fine. Settle down. I did, actually. I converted these to CDT, per the contest rules. You get 2 more guesses, gbroke. ================== Guesses logged and entered. keep em coming, gang. (The guesses...not the snarky imaginary "problems")
