    Hello Everyone,

As I continue to sort my coins I noticed a strange D Mint Mark on a 1964 Quarter. It appears as if it is cut in half making it look kind of like a square. Just wanted to see if anyone has run across this before?

This is the Mark I am referring to:

This is what my other D 1964 Quarters look like

Let me know what you think or if my eyes are just playing tricks on me?

    Thanks,

    Kelley

There looks to me to be a difference. What caused it I don't know.

PMD. The Mint did not use a mintmark punch with a D shaped like that.

    I second the PMD.

As you continue to search through circulated change, you're going to find all sorts of wierd anomalies.......some of them actual varieties/errors and some of them like this.......PMD.

I agree. Unless you are searching BU coins, it takes a while to differentiate cool from PMD (sometimes PMD can be cool, but almost never collectible).
