Strange Coin - Forgery?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by Charitycoincollector, Aug 21, 2019.

  1. Hi all,

So I have this coin which for all purposes appears to be a Edward VII Half-Sovereign Coin. It weighs 3.9g and measures 2cm in diameter.

However the date appears to be 1916 ? But if my history and google are correct Edward died in 1910?

Any ideas if this is a forgery or something else?

Any help is appreciated. Many Thanks. edwardVII halfsovereign Kings head.png edwardVII halfsovereign.png

Just a run of the mill novelty piece. The mismatched date and design would prevent the maker from being prosecuted as a forger. Looks like the maker added their or their company's initials under the bust as well.
