Anything can be collected, but that doesn't mean it's widely accepted that what you choose to collect (and grim about) is considered collectible by anyone else. Of course I am telling people about collecting. The OP solicited information which was given, and the OP didn't refute any of it or barely discuss it. It's you who disapproved of my comments to spend the note and it's you who take offense at my approach because I countered you here and in another similar thread. I'm not specifically saying what thing others must collect, but rather what will be more probable to return them the value they seek (re: the OP sought value in the note he presented here).

Something that is "collectible" is defined as 'a thing worthy of collecting', deemed to have worth, a value. The kind of value the OP sought, was monetary, in more ways than one, in the thing itself being a monetary unit, one one that's worth more than face value due to its strangness and collection of features a $2 note with a star. I simply pointed out the worth and many time over the reasons why it's not worth more than face. We see nothing from you Tbud but someone who panics and becomes defensive when the things you want so desperately to have reasons to collect are challenged. No one said you can't collect these things. I've been pointing out the fallacy of thinking there is more to something than really exists, such as value above face. Even garbage is collectible, on Fantasy Island where value can be imagined and never proven. If you want to collect damaged notes, you might as well go grab hold of your collection and crunch all the notes up. Stamp on them, kick them, tear them, spit on them, and call them sentimental pieces that have a colorful past which define the core values of your damaged collection. Anybody can produce damaged notes, but not everyone can collect un-damaged notes, those whose value increases with time, demand and conditions moving toward degrees of perfection.

Another thing on this Series and of it being common now and in the future. Star notes are not as unique as you dream them to be. Especially amongst modern notes, which may now look small in comparison to the rest of a printage reported. These notes are being tucked away, and will remain more common for longer than you can imagine. Long after the circulated notes are spent and shredded there will be an abundant supply of star notes, the majority of them problem free. This is not a star note from more than a century ago when there truly were very few that reached collectors hands. These notes are being put away by the strap load! These are not 150 year old notes with stars that command big money for so little surviving known examples like those of the 19th century. What's more the note in question is damaged and will always be damaged, even in 150 more years when someone pulls out their straps and want's to know what is the value of the old Series 1976 notes in pristine ChCU grade they are hoping to sell and dump into the market. Even then in that future scenario we can still expect there to be a bloated market with scads of these notes about. The eventuality that the note you advise will be worth something isn't worth waiting for given the damage and harm to potential future value, when today, one can go back out and replace this damaged note for a problem free example, then be satisfied with something of potential value.

Yes, I am instructing people who wanted to know about collecting and value might better collect such things. I was asked about it and gave a full spectrum of things to consider, to the OP.
