I'm using Internet Explorer. I have tried to upload the four different options from Photobucket. CT doesn't like what Photbucket calls the HTML code:

    <a href="http://s870.photobucket.com/albums/...w&current=CopyofItaly1967500LireCollageBk.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab269/collect89/CopyofItaly1967500LireCollageBk.jpg" border="0" alt="Toned 500 Lire"></a>

CT doesn't like what Photobucket calls the IMG code:

CT only seems to accept the direct link:

Holy cow, I figured it out. You only need to put the IMG code in the message at CT. You don't need to manage attachments at all. I think I am cool now. Thanks for your help.

With patience, you can find most years in nice UNC condition. The condition & prices are comparable to Franklin half dollars. The two coins I have posted here were a little special but I found them (cherrypicked them) amongst $5 to $10 UNC coins.

Thank you Collect89 , its pretty much how i started with Franklins.A few circulated ones to get the feel for them and batter in with some UNC's to round up the set.
I dont normally go for European coins other than UK , this one i did mainly because its so hauntingly familiar as i said earlier regards the Gothic florins.

The 500 Lire is the reincarnation of your Gothic florin.

Spooky isnt it how often coins from different countries can be so similar.Mexico used to have the liberty cap as did the US and i always seen geat similarities between Liberty and Britannia.

The deal for all 8 500 lira went ok,an agreeable arrangment. As an unexpected bonus there will be 3 of a different design.

    Eppur si muove!

"You're welcome" in Italian is "Prego." (Babelfish is limited by its literalness.)

For common phrases, I rely on www.Linganaut.com However, that said, Linguanaut gives "Please" as "Per favore" which I learned is an Americanism from the Spanish "por favor" imported to Italy since World War II. Please in Italian is "per piacere." Languages change, of course. "Boyfriend... girlfriend... computer... OK ... " you hear them all over. One day on campus, this girl was rattling on her cellphone in Arabic and in the middle I heard "I'm so sure" universal Girlese, no doubt, along with "Whatever."

I have one of the 500 lira also, average circ, toned black. Now I will keep an eye out at shows, etc., especially for the 1957 and any and all in higher grade. I had mine in with a rick of other half-crowns like the French 2 Franc.

Columbus was not "Italian." He was Genoese. There was no Italy, except, of course, as the word defines a peninsula in southern Europe, like Iberia. The idea of an Italian nation-state was new to the 19th century.

Coin of Genoa to be posted later.

(Ciao! works for both hello and good-bye, as do in other languages Aloha and Shalom, leading to the universal Country & Western hit tune:
When she said "Ciao" I thought she meant Hello, but she really meant Good-bye.)

The nicest way to bow out in Italian: "Buona notte e sogni d'oro!"
Good night and Dreams of gold!

Actually I am thinking that Silvio Berlesquetoni would change that last word of the phrase around a little bit.

    Hello Fullmoonkid,

The 500 Lire was introduced in 1957 with the flags on ths ships waiving against the wind. This was corrected when the coin went into production in 1958. The 1957 variety is a keeper.

    Very best regards,

Thats the fun part of coins i reckon , just as i clear one hurdle , theres another.Happily i negotiated a total of 9 of these, one i know is near UNC 1961 and i already had it but i couldnt resist.Im sure its the best of the lot condition wise.
I was told the other years are varied and a 1958 was clear in the photo, theres a chance a 1957 is amongst them but knowing my luck ill be out in cyber land tracking down a 1957 soon.
Ill post a photo of them when they arrive,i am aware of a postal strike in Europe just now though.Could be a while.:(
