Safeflips have some downsides. They are stiff so they can split if you keep opening and closing .If they do split the edges can be sharp and there is a small possibility sliding coins in and out can leave hairline on the highpoints (IMO I would only worry about it if I had high grade coins or planned to take them out frequently) That being said I tend to use 2x2s for low value coins and safeflips for higher value are coins that aren't in albums
True. The climate where one lives, and the micro-climate where one stores his or her coins, are key factors.
Many dealers use the soft PVC containing flips to ship a coin as they scratch much less if the coin slides around. But they are getting harder to find new also due to bad press, If you do use them for shipping, it would be kind to mark them as such and maybe a note discard after putting into a permanent holder.
I'd like to contribute this to the mix: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HX54U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My husband and I have been using the heck out of this (hundreds of uses so far) and neither of us has had any staple jams. Best of all--NO MORE CRIMPING STAPLES!
