Is it considered acceptable practice here to continue to contact someone and make completely unsolicited requests to buy coins they've posted, even after they have said no twice, and made clear twice (both privately and publicly) that they aren't interested? edited
Donna, for the record, and I'm addressing you because everybody else knows this already. Yes, members are allowed to contact other members by Private Message offering to buy and or sell coins. That said, what members are not allowed to do is to make a pest of themselves with offers. If they do, then they have to deal with me. If and when this happens, and it's rare that it does, then members are expected to contact me, another moderator, or simply use the Report button so all mods will see the report. Once that's done, the mods will handle it. And you, need do nothing else. Your original post, post #40, was fine. You expressed your view and you're allowed to do that. But this recent post, #41, was a bit too much and not necessary - which is why I edited it. That said, I realize you are fairly new member and not familiar with how things work around here - so no harm done. Please just remember what I've said and you'll enjoy your participation here. This is a great group of people, who will bend over backwards to help each other.
I have used a Hades cabinet for my collection, and I am happy about it. It is very elegant and quite easy to display on a desk. I store the information/tags/etc. about the coins in a separate box. The good think about these cabinets is that you can customize your trays with the size and shape of cases you need (rounded or squared). I was a bit scared about toning but I learned how to appreciate toned coins through the years and I don't mind my denarii getting toned anymore, if this has to happen. Cons: you have to manipulate the coins to observe the reverse, but its the same for every tray or cabinet display...
I had a similar cabinet many years ago. I lost it in a move. Thankfully, no coins were in the cabinet. Nice.
I had these made a few years back in Italy. They are book sized and fit into the safe easily. I had them made for my smaller copper coins. The light colored felt background looks good too.
