What I find amazing about the whole situation is that when some collectors heard that they were going to release the 2006 Unc with the W mint mark outside the 20th Anniversary sets, I remember many being very mad at the mint. They felt it would devalue the 20th Anniversary sets and I recall quite a few threatened to cancel their orders for the 20th Anniversary sets. I wonder how many actually did. Now, look what has happened. Both have been big time winners. I guess one could argue that if they had not released them then the mintage would have been lower (280K vs approx 470K) and thus there would have still been a demand for them. But, I think it will be a plus for the popularity of investors collecting the ASEs. At least one man's opinion.
Yeah, but its been so long since I ordered them that I had to jumble my bank account to make sure the money is there. I won a coin from the Katz Cancer Auction and had to have him hold the check just to make sure I had enough funds all the way around. The thing that sucks about it is that when I made the order, I had plenty of money. In any event, the Mint now says reservered and in stock. Now lets hope there are no suprises from my bank account. Really hope that i hear something from mine next week. over the last few weeks I have been surfing the Internet and ebay just looking . Currently I am recoving from a back injury (and old age) lol. One thing I think I am seeing is a reduction in the number of the 2006w as a single on ebay. Some of the dealers I have purchased from do not even have them listed anymore.. There are a lot of pure collectors out there who will squirrel these away forever. I hate to but i will give the mint some credit when they decided to to release them to the general public instead of just the dealers. This can only help the hobby as it makes it much more affordable for the general public and give them an opportunity to get involved in more of their programs . The money is one thing but i just hate the thought that I am paying more for something than I should. Now if they will just send me mine... I think you can look for more of these type programs and would not surprise me if they released a silver presidential coin at the end of the year. Just my thoughts.
Thanks ND. should be square on all that. had to get a replacement credit card becouse it got broke carrying it around in my bill fold. anyhow they assured me that it would be exactally the same as the one they were replacing. Found out later that they had changed the experation date. So i called the mint and got them to changed that and then later called another one to make sure the other one got it right. seems ok . thinking about calling another one but then they might screw it up. As a good friend of mine once said "the only thing worse than being paranoid is finding out they are really after you" So i think i will give it a rest. thanks again for all the good infomation.
thanks for the order numbers. Mine is 23816XXX so I should be getting close. best I can remember I order mine about 2 days before the sell out so i will be kind of toward the bottom.
still waiting i am still waiting my am eagle (w) unc 1/10 gold coin. estimated delivery date at feb. 28. and everyday it added one day of delaying.
That sounds really odd. I have never seen the delay move on a daily basis. Good Luck - It does seem for the most part if you are willing to wait long enough that sooner or later the mint gets caught up and ships your coins.
