Yes agree I have read and seen instances of that with this seller but mainly because if it is tooled he always mentions it unlike some of the others, I just stay clear of those type. CNG sells tooled coins too. (and if known mentions it)
Obviously standards vary. The Lanz attitude is business as usual in paintings and many other art forms. I've never purchased a coin from Ebay but the majority of the better items in my stamp collection have come from there -- like everybody here has said, actual knowledge of what you're buying combined with a healthy amount of scepticism and looking at the seller's feedback and other items on sale will take you a long way.
