The air here has been very smoky and the air quality index was a very unhealthy 298 last night, really has impinged on my astronomy hobby. Good thing coin collecting is not impacted. Just pulled the trigger on a Vespasian tet of Alexandria this morning, I'll post it once it is received in the mails. Meanwhile I hope everyone in California stays safe!

I'm gradually getting closer to a complete collection of the 12 Caesars as I now have seven of them. Of course I'm 'cheating' a bit by going outside the range of denarii and sestertii and into provincials, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

Wauw 298, thats very high, it's almost hazardous. What is the cause of this?

At my house in Greece in a village the air quality index is around 9 if I remember correctly from the last measurement, I think amazing for astronomy, even with the naked eye I can name the stars. In my house in the Netherlands around 50, still very acceptable.

The fires raging in Butte County which is about 175 miles away from the Bay Area in a Northeasterly direction. About 20% contained. 600 folks still missing...

I'm only 80 miles away from that fire. The smoke is pretty bad, but not as bad as the fire we had here in July.

I live in the Bay Area, and yes, the smoke is still lingering.

  8. And people still try to convince me to move to California...

I turned down an opportunity at JPL only because they were in California, if that says anything.
