Well as you all know I have been saying that some of the coins might well be beyound me : Just to prove myself wrong I have today managed to buy these for less than $70 including shipping, all are in Unc condition. :kewl: 2002 1 euro Monaco - Prince Rainier III and Prince Albert II Vatican City - Pope John Paul II 2002 2 euro Vatican City - Pope John Paul II 2007 2 euro Vatican City - Treaty of Rome Now I just have to wait for them to arrive :thumb:
The great thing about coin collecting... there's so many to choose from!!!! So little time- so many coins.:thumb: Andy
Hi, 2€ 2007 Vatican "Treaty of Rome" doesn't excists as an original 2€-Coin. It will be a "Probe". Are you sure that the 1€ Monaco and 1€ & 2€ Vatican 2002 are the original like the pictures? I don't think so because the price of 70 Dollar for all this coins is to low. I think it would be also "Probe" Greetings El Buitre 2002 1 euro Monaco - Prince Rainier III and Prince Albert II Vatican City - Pope John Paul II 2002 2 euro Vatican City - Pope John Paul II 2007 2 euro Vatican City - Treaty of Rome
LOL dont worry I know that the Vatican never issued a genuine Treaty coin, this one is classed as a Essay and i believe the other two Vatican are the same. The Monaco though is suposedly genuine but we will see when it arrives :smile
An easy way to find out is looking at the reverse once you get your pieces. If you see something like "2 E" there, instead of the usual "2 EURO", then it will be a medal. Terms like "essai" or "Probe" are somewhat misleading as these pieces are not officially issued by governments but made by third parties. You will know that - problem is, Monaco for example did issue some official essai pieces in the franc years. So unexperienced collectors may believe that these "Probe" pieces have a similar status ... Christian
The Monaco one is the one that I am uncertain about and until I have it in hand i realy wont know for sure. The other three are deffinate essays/Probe/Trial pieces :smile
