I like the obverse design of the gold coin, the obv of the dollar a little less so. I find the reverses of both coins lacking and having the flag as the main item on both sides of the dollar (and on three of the four designs) is overkill. And if they were going to make such a big deal over the flag it would have made more sense to issue these coins in 2014.
Can't. Mayan calendar ends this December. Gotta get the deal done before the world ends...... I'll pick up one example each of the silver dollars and think on the gold. If I do bite it will be an uncirculated example.
The world's not going to end Green, didn't you hear? If it was going to end, Marty McFly wouldn't have made it to 2015. The world looked okay then
At least the proof, and maybe both for me. It may even bump body-builder Franklin Scientist for my favorite commem design.
I just checked the mint's website and this appears to be a new page on the release this coming monday. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...10001&identifier=9100&storeId=10001&langId=-1 That 2-coin set is tempting... any opinions on it?
not a knock your socks off design, but as others have posted with the infantry commem I'm willing to bet it has great eye appeal in hand.
I like this one a whole lot more than the Infantry Dollar. Trying to decide on the Proof or UNC as the UNC normally has a lower mintage than the proofs.
Now available. Silver proof for me. Based on pics and only in my opinion, the gold UNC looks nicer than the gold proof. But neither enough to make me bite... mintage of 100,000 for UNC and proof combined, versus 500,000 combined silver coins. Still thinking, tho...
I got my order in right at 12. Site was slow, but not like the 25th release. I bought 4 each of the silver and 2 each of the sets. Might go back and order more gold next week if still available.
I picked up two silver proofs & two silver uncirculated ...still pondering on the gold, probably keep on until they are sold out......then wish I would have got one.
Yeah, if they coulda capped the gold at SOMETHING interesting, like under 50k, I'd be looking closer, tho I'm not crazy about that design... I feel similarly about the silver, wishing it were under 200k, but I like that design and can swing the $50 easier.
If you own the coin that your avatar is, then it can't be your first commemorative buy unless someone gave that one to you.
