I find that a bit unusual though. I can't imagine how you must have been pushing that coin into something to create such as scratch or is it just minor. As to those staples. At a coin show I purchased a 1921S Lincoln Cent in about MS-62 in a 2x2. At home I wanted to put it in my #1 album so I took my handly screwdriver, with a nice sharp point, and tried to pry open the staples. It slipped and ran across Lincoln's face. Now that is a scratch.
Actually it's a minor scratch , think about 20 odd coins , a couple of small boxes some coins in cardboard 2x2s , some slabbed , a watch case all in a bag that my wife is putting in & out of the car and then tossing it on the bed , well all it took was 1 small jolt , result a scratched coin . Not to smart . rzage
