Square tubes with dimes are turning green.

    Gosh. Do you suppose that this "verdigris" which developed and leached into the plastic also develops within a PCGS Slab and then leaches into the plastic insert leaving the coin totally unaffected?

    Or was, perhaps, my PCGS slab post a little too obtuse?

    The tubes have been stored in a happy place. Good humidity, interior room. All the important things.

    Your post was very interesting. Out of the 100 dime tubes that I had stored all together, 2 of them did not develop the green tint. Those 2 tubes contained uncirculated dimes which I thought was significant. However, looking at your slabbed coins, it looks like your coins are uncirculated or proofs and yet the container also developed the green tint. So "some serious chemical analysis" is possibly an accurate description of what is needed to figure this out.

    Since it is just my dimes, I will probably just buy some newer tubes and repackage those. Maybe somebody will come along one day and read this and have more details.
