I love all the passion about everyone's favorite albums (especially the rock albums). Of course we all know there is no "best" album. To quote the emperor Vespasian, when being hassled by son Titus on his new scheme to charge the citizens to use Rome's outdoor toilets connected to the Cloaca Maxima. Titus felt his father was demeaning his own authority by doing this. Vespasian famously had Titus smell a coin and asked if it stank. When Titus said, "No." Vespasian's response, "Yet it comes from urine!?" Hence the now often used phrase "Pecunia non olet" money doesn't stink! So Here are a couple more sports related coins I've come across in the ol collection... A little archery (though me thinks he probably has a Greek in the crosshairs and not a bullseye) OrodesI Hellenistic Monarchies, The Parthian Kingdom - 80-77 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 3.35g). Rhagae. Bust wearing a tiara with eight point in centre tthron withshort beard / Archer seated right on throne A little wrestling (as we know, from all the imagery from later coinage with Herakles wearing this fellas head as a cap, this wrestling match was for keeps!) LUCANIA, Herakleia 433-330 BCE. AR Diobol (1.15 gm). Head of Athena right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with hippocamp / Herakles kneeling right, head facing, wrestling with the Nemean lion; EP upper right, club left. Van Keuren 62 (same dies); SNG ANS 33 (same dies). Toned EF, surfaces grainy.
