    I am not sure where you are going with that, but I do find it ironic that PCGS announced that one of the benefits of the secure plus service would be to end gradeflation.

    Did you see this question posed in that thread:

    I would like to ask the grader how the hairlines ended up on the coin if is uncirculated. When someone mishandles a coin, the grade deserves to be punished. That fact that the coin is now in an MS61 holder is a joke.

    I find it expected, not ironic. The TPGs are getting flack from more people than just me about value grading that has been going on. And they are stuck between a rock and hard place because of all the discussion there has been about the "coincidence" of grades dropping as prices drop.

    So as I see it, this is a way (I'd call it an excuse because they have been caught with their pants down) for them to lock in the grade and thus stop the value grading/gradeflation. But at the same time they are going to make sure they over-grade everything now. At least those submitted under the secure plus program.
