I know this coin has already had plenty of praise, but I just had to add mine...fantastic coin...I have a 1906(c) 2 annas in aunc, but not nearly as nice as the detail on that 1/2 rupee...I always liked the flowers on the reverse...anyone know the specific type of flower pictured...just curious....anyhow...great looking coin....Those new NGC holders that show the edge are great.
well poor edward was submitted designs by the royal mint and the indian mint (cant remember bombay or calcutta) to please both he accepted the obverse from the royal mint and the reverse from the indian mint
I certainly will, and I will try to take some pictures this weekend, so, by then maybe I will have a few pics up in my gallery. I've always liked the British India silver coins. I have still yet to get a truly BU Edward of any denomination, however,
I like them all, I especially liked the 2 anna coins, but only because I am a fiend for small denomination silver coins...
yea i love the anna coins too they are the only ones with the crowned head unfortunately i havent got any
yes thats why i like it. although i wish they would come out with a crowned head of king spock but for now its only edward and very hard to get in unc and white with no dirt or toning
edit: oh wait I found it...so they only did it for the india one anna? its nice lookin, at least the one in my 2004 krause is...so you dont have any? i like them, i only have a few edward india coins, and most arent too nice, i like them all the same though, im charging my cam batteries to get pics of my 1906c 2 annas, its shiny, but im a little hesitant to call it 'unc'. it shines like yours, but not as good detail, plus it has a small nick on the obverse to the left of the head. From what i can see in the pics, yours looks like it has one very nice edge too.
the one rupee coin hi may i ask - how much would the one rupee silver coins - EDWARD, KGV, KGVI - cost in the present market..... regards Thomas
spock the prices you have quoted "5 bucks" can be only materialized only if one is an expert in coins and dealing with coin sellers... for newbies (like me) most of these coins will come at a higher price thomas be a bit careful if you intend to buy coins Bbay... its not easy and my recommendation dont buy from bbay shops as someone guided me, i will pass the advice to u... read, read a lot before buying and if u must buy... then buy it from ebay ... am i right HRH?
cost of silver one rupee Hi Thanks for the info spock1k.... and thanks for the warning.... i happened to see a bunch of these coins with one of my friends - can't say he is a coin collector but their grand dad and dad passed on those to them - they do the laxmi puja on these - and me - i just got freaked out.... edwards, kgVs, kgVIs... the works.... so was thinking what price to offer for one coin to him - for my purchase.... regards Thomas
here are 4 assumptions ( all will be valid but i am just being politically correct) they have been cleaned with washing powder every year they are holy relics so he might get offended if you offer to buy it from him if he is willing to give you one get george 6 1939 rupee that is the only one that will be worth anything after the abuse offer him melt price if you cant get the 1939 they are not worth more than that 400 - 500 rupees at best.
i see u said tough not impossible ... with your network i am sure everything is available... btw in india... 5bucks defaults to 16c and not 5$ :kewl:
u never know... it may also be 15 rupee or the fabled 2 mohur ... we are known to worship the yellow metal
