So my father texts me the other day saying oyr friend "needs" someone to claim the last 167 ASE's (2015) at about $17 a piece ($8500 for the box).

He's honestly just offering these up to us if we want them, if not, he's already committed to buying... I don't have to buy all of them, in fact I'd probably buy half of tbose, but at $17 a piece, would you guys hop on his offer? I've never been part of a monster buy so I don't know what typical costs are, feedback is greatly appreciated!

at $17 that is a very good deal, unless silver keeps dropping...

Right? pretty much our two friends are buying 2/3 and the two of us are buying the last 1/3. I think the risk is relatively low, I mean, silver would have to drop what, another ~$2 for ASE's to be sold at $17 in bulk?

Buy it, put it away and forget about it for 20+ years.

That sounds close to my plan...

First, welcome to the neighborhood! Second, you should start your own thread in one of the other forums for this coin.

I think $17 is a good price regardless of the rise or fall of the spot price.

The "US Coins" forum would be the most appropriate for Lincoln varieties.

So on this note, before this deal came into existence, I had planned on buying some Pandas, Libertads, Philharmonics, Brittanias, and Maples. I called the LCS I usually go to and they said they would take the ASE's as a 1 for 1 trade as long as they had them on hand and coins like Pandas I would just pay the difference of the cost. Would you recommended diversifying as opposed to holding only one type?

Nice price........this is the first year (since 2011) that I got a roll of ASE's........got very lucky on a pre-order offering back in November. Danged things was too high for too long. :)

As for diversification.......do it because you like the designs not because you want to hedge your bet. ASE's are extremely 'liquid' while the other forms of bullion are not always........

Yeah, thats what I should have asked, liquidity of those other coins. I had planned on buying several of each to hold onto and sell a couple years from now, but wanted at least to keep for my own. Being fairly new to this, I'd like to make it the start of my own collection. Maybe what I'll do is just stick to one of each unless someone else chimes in on which are the most liquid besides ASE's
