    1: Melon, Bar, Blank
    2: Bar, Locomotive, Blank.

It's crazy how that 3rd reel spun back a little on that last spin.

    Comment And Response Section

Comment: MAPPING THE REELS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! (K2Coins, Post #155)

Response: It's difficult, but not impossible. There is a lot of information in my responses here. Consider reviewing all of the responses and writing a list of facts. I've also given other more subtle hints, like the comment after our last spin about there being '16 really lousy guesses'. I figured it would take our players about 8-10 spins just to guess the number of symbols on each reel. This is our sixth spin, and you're close. Once you know how many symbols there are per reel, someone will solve the challenge, even if it's one reel at a time.

    ----------------------

Comment: I gotta start working on mapping those reels... is there an equal # on each reel? (Cremebrule, Post #166)

Response: There are the same total number of symbols on each of the three reels. But the number of Blanks, Melons, Bars and Trains are different on each reel. The most common symbol appears a total of 28 times on the machine's three reels.

    ----------------------

Comment: First question on any service call... "I know this seems like a silly question, but... is it plugged in?" Well, you are obviously a good sport for letting us know. (Softmentor, Post #169)

Response: I remember years ago that my father went through a similar situation with Grandma's Clothes Dryer. The 'problem' was only discovered when the new dryer was delivered and being installed. Grandma had two clothes dryers in her laundry room for many years. I guess it runs in the family.

Follow Up: You know what are the two worst things about getting old? Well, the first one is you lose your memory.
    And the second one...
    The second one is....
    Hmmmm...
What the HECK is the second one?

    --------------------------------

Comment: It's crazy how that third reel spun back a little on that last spin. (Silentnviolent, Post #176)

Response: When I was testing this machine for the contest, I noticed the same thing on a few spins. And occasionally one reel wouldn't get enough torque to continue spinning as long as you might expect. That's why this machine is sitting out in my repair shop instead of on display in the game room. On each test spin, however, the rogue reel always ended up locking into place.

    ------------------------------

Comment: Fifth mapping attempt... When I finished this attempt, it looked really good to me.... How many melons on reel 3? (Silentnviolent, Post #177)

Response: It looks really good to me too, although there are not exactly 19 symbols per reel on this machine. There are two fewer MELONs on Reel #3 than there are MELONs on each of the other two reels. On a more positive note, you are the first person to correctly determine that there are exactly zero BLANKs on Reel #1.

Follow Up: This explains why I said yesterday that there are 16 'really lousy guesses', and only 48 decent ones.
