Spending Numismatic Items for Fun

I hear these stories a lot, and they always baffle me as to how a person who's job it is to take money for goods, whether it be a fast food employee or a salesman at Macy's, doesn't even know the current currency in the country they do business and live in. I guess if I owned a business that delt with public transactions all day, I'd have to educate my employees to ensure they knew what money looked like.

Not that the event wasn't tragic - but there used to be a guy in Dallas who would toss spent .22 shells around on Dealy plaza .. even in the 80's & 90's... just to see the tourists do the same thing...
