8 reales lima 1806 Carlos IV obverse : VF- reverse: F value: always depends weight? would be fine some edge photographs for overlap at 180º
I have the 'world coins' software (Krause). Wanted to insure identification first (as well as the opinions of the fine folks here). Thank you for the input. It's tough identifying some of these kinds of coins (at least for me).
the 'ME' between REX and 8R on the reverse indicates the Lima (Peru) mint - do an advanced search on eBay for '1806 8 reales Lima' - you'll see what prices have been paid by buyers on that site (green numbers indicate sold items) - the auction prices are more accurate than the 'buy now' ones (they tend to be overpriced) - good luck
check out www.worldcoingallery.com - they have an excellent coin search and price tool - according to them a VF specimen of 1806 8 reales (listed under Peru) is valued at about $75 - actual offer price will typically be lower
Thank you. Sniff. I was told by a friend that it was worth several hundred. Guess he was wrong. Oh well. Geez, first my Chinese dragon was fake, and now this.
Here's one for sale online - it's got the chop marks (Chinese merchant validation marks) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1806Lima-JP...857235?hash=item2ef6028a53:g:lzMAAOSw4shX7r33
Thank you. Well, I guess mine is in a little better shape than that one listed, I guess? Still much less than I was told though.
