Got these two for a hammer of £40. I know the SA coin is probably not worth much but hope to do better on the 5 Pesetas. I would like to get it slabbed but maybe not in good enough shape. Hope I did ok.
the coin on the right info: South Africa, 1897, denomination- 2 1/2 shillings, KM#7 weight-14.1380g. or 0.4205oz. , metal- .925 silver, mintage-149,000 grade/value F-$5.00 VF-$10.00 XF-$30.00 UNC-$75..00 your coins grade ? XF maybe ? nice low mintage coin. not sure if either of these would good enough to get slabbed ? others here can tell you if they will.
the coin on the left info: Spain, 1876, denomination- 5 pesetas, KM#678.2 weight-20.0000 or .7234 , metal- .900 silver, 8,548,000 grade/value F-$10.00 VF-$20.00 XF-200.00 UNC-$350.00 mint mark- 6 pointed star= Madrid your coins grade looks XF-AU ? at least XF+
so XF? I only bought the lot for the Spanish..............and have never made anything from the SA...but I have some high grade coming back from PCGS this week.........
I am guess XF could be AU. not sure exactly. others here could probably tell you more accurately the grade. so is 40 pounds like $80.00 U.S. dollars ? if so you did very well.
Yes..........£40 hammer for both coins, so about $80.......UK Auctioneers......a portal I use rarely.
