Æ Sestertius (33mm, 26.75 g.)</p><p>Struck 159/160 AD.</p><p>Obverse..ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XXIII, laureate head right</p><p>Rev. PIETATI AVG COS IIII SC, Pietas standing left holding globe, Faustina Junior as Pietas standing left, between Faustina Minima, Lucilla & holding baby Fadilla.</p><p>RIC III 1031</p><p>Another first!....My first ever Roman Sestertius...These are addictive!</p><p><b>6...</b></p><p>Spain, Bolskan (Osca). Circa 150-100 BC. AE Unit (10.35 gm, 24mm).</p><p>Obverse: Bearded head right; dolphin behind.</p><p>Reverse: "BOLSKAN" in Celt-Iberian in exergue, rider on horse right, holding spear; star behind.</p><p>CNH 8; SNG BM Spain 734; SNG Copenhagen 325. VF.</p><p>I just love the style of these coins....</p><p><b>5...</b></p><p>Avanti Deva (Varttideva) 1164-1171 A.D.</p><p>Obverse- Goddess Ardochsho/Lakshmi seated facing in half lotus position, with Nagari legend 'A' left/'Va nti' right</p><p>Reverse- King standing facing and sacrificing at altar.Nagari legend 'Deva' bottom right.</p><p>Not much known about this ruler..He was the son of Paramanuka (1154-64 A.D.)Who was in turn the son of my last dated coin Jayasimha (1128-54 A.D.)</p><p>Very difficult to find this king especially with a good attributable legend.</p><p><b>4...</b></p><p>Nerva AR Denarius. Rome, AD 97.</p><p>Obverse..IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR POT, laureate head right</p><p>Reverse..COS III PATER PATRIAE, Priestly emblems: simpulum, aspergillum, guttus, and lituus.</p><p>RIC 24; RSC 48. 3.12g, 17mm, 6h.</p><p>Near Very Fine.</p><p>From a private Swiss collection.</p><p>This was a quite an important coin for me as it completed my 5 good emperors set...</p><p><b>3...</b></p><p>Plotina, AE18 of Gordus-Julia, Lydia. 98-117. Magistrate Poplios.</p><p>Obverse..ΠΛΩTEINA CEBACTH, draped bust right</p><p>Reverse..EΠI ΠOΠΛIOY ΓOΡΔHNΩ, Zeus seated left, holding patera and sceptre.</p><p>BMC 18.....Ref wildwinds(thanks)</p><p>Great help from sharp-eyed Finn235 (thanks) This also completed the 5 good emperors wives...</p><p><b>2...</b></p><p>MARIUS. Romano-Gallic Emperor, 269 AD.</p><p>IMP CM AVR MARIVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.</p><p>VICTORIA AVG, Victory standing left, holding wreath and palm.</p><p>RIC#17...Mint Trier?</p><p>Again great help from Finn235...A rare Emperor/Usurper that I didn't feel I would be able to afford for quite a while, especially in this condition..</p><p><b>1...</b></p><p>EGYPT, Alexandria. Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. BI Tetradrachm (23mm, 11.94 g, 12h). Dated RY 12 (AD 148/149).</p><p>Obverse..Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right..</p><p>Reverse..Nilus reclining left, holding reed and cornucopia from which emerges a Genius; Iς (for 16 cubits) above, crocodile below, (date) around.</p><p>Köln 1594; Dattari (Savio) 2294; K&G 35.426; Emmett 1413.12. Dark gray-brown surfaces. VF.</p><p>Ex Hermanubis Collection (Classical Numismatic Group Electronic Auction 377, 29 June 2016), lot 269.</p><p>My first Tetradrachm with the added bonus of a great provenance thanks to BobL's sharp eyes..These are also going to be very addictive![/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
