    Oh No:

"Odyssey (NASDAQ: OMEX - News) compiled a 109-page affidavit for Spain's Culture Ministry, detailing its operations. Odyssey's next court date is Monday, when it stands before a federal judge."

If they go before a US judge they are screwed!

Their prices are ridiculous for sea water damaged coins.
I saw their stuff in Florida, if you like damaged stuff-- then they were still overpriced.

Those examples I saw on their website didn't seemed damaged, and in this case, these literally have a ton of rare coins.

From the first announcement of the find, I've thought it was very odd that they have been so secretive about what was found, where it was found and even the name of the wreck from which the stuff was salvaged.

This might explain such unusual behavior.

I know some 20c Spanish history, and I'm American. For example, I know something about the Lincoln Brigade (an American volunteer regiment that fought in the Spanish Civil War). Which should indicate to you that I'm aware of the importance of the Spanish Civil War. I know when and why Spain joined NATO. I know (and understand) the arguments of both sides in the ongoing Anglo-Spanish dispute over Gibraltar (although that is expanded, I know, to include other centuries).

Sure. Guess that many Americans know about the Spanish Civil War, and about the fact that Franco was never "elected". Which is why I found the comment that I replied to - signed by "All US Citizens" - so surprising ...

Since I am a US citizen (by birth to naturalized immigrants) I can say with certainty that you are absolutely NOT speaking for "all" US citizens.

Frankly, I doubt that you are speaking for more than a pretty small minority of Jingoist Americans!

Spain's Civil War was used by some nations as a testing ground for new weapons that would soon see their use in WW II. I had an uncle that fought in Spain's Civil War and didn't live to tell about it.

USSR, Germany, and Italy used Spain as test ground new weapons. Spain was where first monoplane aircraft fighter was used in combat, to great success this was Polikarpov I-16 made in USSR. But soon Italy and Germany begin send arms in, when German pilots flying faster ME-109 for Nationalist faction then tide in air turn against Republican forces. Fascist bombing of city of Guernica on Bay of Biscay also mark beginning of war against civilians deliberately. This never happen in war before.

When Nationalist Spain was victorious over Republicans, they keeps the I-16 Rato in service until 1953, but they fly German designed but Spanish built aircrafts of Ju-52 until 1970ths. Swiss AF fly Ju-52's until 1980ths, and they still fly for private company give tours over Swiss.
