I received this price list of coins from the South Africa Mint in Pretoria in 1964 and used it to order some uncirculated coins. I did not have the money then to order proof sets.

I was going to post my South Africa Mint 1964 pricelist but I discovered that I already had. These were for sale then but not to Americans due to the US gold regulations. I could not have afforded one anyway. South Africa 2 Rand 1964 Gold, 21mm, 7.99gm (Same size as a UK Sovereign)
I like this old 1964 price list. I just purchased a beautiful 1951 South African proof set to add to my collection. Beautiful coins. It is interesting to see that these coins were still available for sale as late as 1964, three years after the advent of decimal coinage with Rand and cents.
One of my more recent purchases which I believe is quite rare and collectible: 1892 "Double Shaft" Pond (MS62)
And to date, the most rare and desirable (for me) sovereign among my South African collection has to be the 1923SA Proof (PR64) total mintage of 655.......cannot afford to upgrade it yet That's it......I'm all out of South African coins for the moment
Well.....the 1923 SA Proof sovereign has just been superseded by the 1892 Single Shaft in AU53 I've been after this very rare one for a while......mission accomplished!!
