Seen a NGC MS64 sell for big money...........not sure how close my one is and the camera isn't great but if one looks at the details like the beard and eyes it does look well into MS. IMG_6736.JPG IMG_6740.JPG

Not sure of the grade for the 5 shillings single shaft............bought at part of an 18 coin group of South African coins.......

Hi, don't know anything about these coins. But I love the reverse toning. Nice

Take them out of the plastic to get a decent picture, as it is there is a lot of fuzzy reflection. The first looks UNC, the seconf, EF or a good VF.

Must be just the pictures, then as there is not a lot of contrast.

    South Africa, 1892, 5 shillings, KM#8.1, .925 silver, mintage-14,000
    grade/value
    F-$60.00 VF-$150.00 XF-$350.00 UNC-$850.00
I would say your coin looks VF-XF $150-250
Krause catalog values may differ from real life values.

I have agues that the Krause catalogue as usual will be under the real market value as the 5 shillings really just don't come up often, this has nice old toning, and the beard has excellent detail..............not sure about the 2 shilling.........this and a few other coins will go to NGC on Tuesday.

Too much wear on the beard and the ear for it to be a MS type coin. Maybe VF-30 to an EF-40

Are you talking about the 5 shilling or the 2 shilling?

First coin appears AU and possibly cleaned, second high VF to XF

I appreciate this one is low grade but I saw a decent one that sold for such a huge sum I decided to get it slabbed anyway. I bought 18 SA coins all as a group. IMG_6744.JPG IMG_6745.JPG
