I have found 5 die variations so far on the 64Ds. I have also found 5 double die. These coins are all at least MS64 or better, I bet some will grade as high as MS67. Right now I am at about 500 P's and 150 D's. I would love some input on the die variations, where can I find pictures and rarities? These coins were all bought in 1964 and been hiding ever since, stunning collection and i feel privelaged! I will post some piks after i sort them unless someone HAS to see the die variations I have found!? mlgdave
Look out for the RPM-001, you will distinct separation south of the primary mint mark. These generally sell for 2x melt on a consistent basis.
Dave, I think the best place to find the Kennedy Die Varieties is the CONECA Master Listings that are listed on VarietyVista.com. If your picture skills are good and you can get in close enough, I also have a copy of James Wiles' book "The Kennedy Half Dollar Book" from the library. Be happy to help you out.
Normally I'd point to John Wexler's site doubleddie.com because it has great photos...but the only Kennedy Half he has is a 1977 D DDO that I sent him.
Good luck on your hunt! If it helps, I have a few pictures up in this set: http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1165
by the way the Double Die I found are not the "Bold" Doubling as seen on Ebay, they are a double by virtue of the top of the D is shown twice, it may not be a double die but just a variation of the 8 different dies I have found, I now need to research them and see if any are worth more than melt, most of these will go MS64 or better. There are over 400 D's in the batch mlgdave
I see on Variety Vista the different RPMS but not images of them, I guess I will do good quality piks and see what they are when i post!
