Sort of Like "Storage Wars", or Sometimes it Isn't Too Good to be True

I have been happily lurking here for about six months. I collected coins (kind of randomly) as a kid, have bought proof sets and AE gold coins (also kind of randomly) as an adult, and started buying bullion coins (a bit late to the party) at the beginning of the year. I came across this auction on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230638583068&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

with this stream of consciousness description:

"1991 MOUNT RUSHMORE 3 PIECE PROOF SET PLUS YOU'LL GET 10 EXTRA SETS AND PROOF SET.SUCH AS (2) LEWIS & CLARK PROOF DOLLARS,(1) DOLLEY MADISON PROOF DOLLAR,1994S U.S.CAPITAL PROOF DOLLAR, (1)1992 TWO-COIN UNC. COLUMUS SET DOLLAR HALF DOLLAR,(1) 2002S U.S. MILITARY BI-COMM. COIN,(1) 1986S ELLIS ISLAND PROFF DOLLAR & HALF DOLLAR,(1) 2001P PROOF U.S.CAPITAL DOLLAR,(1) 2010 MS70 SILVE EAGLE DOLLAR GRADED ANACS IN A WOODEN RED CASE,(1) 1987 PROOF SET.plus the 5 dollar gold piece of mount rushmore is proof.aiso you'll get a 2005 super bowl silver coin, and you'll get 1986 1 oz.happy new year walt disney mickey mouse coin.plus you'll get 50 STATE QUARTERS ALL WITH HOLLOWGRAMS IN A VELVET CASE."

It was opening bid $350, Buy it Now $450, and I figured what the heck, and went in for the Buy it Now at $450. I was a bit nervous when I got an email from the seller that he was having problems getting to the post office, and would "throw in" something else as a result.

Well, today two large packages came, virtually everything in original packaging with COAs (and more than what was listed):
1 1991 Mt. Rushmore 3-Coin Proof Set, including .2418 oz. $5 Gold and $1 Silver; 3 2004 Lewis and Clark Silver Proof $1; 1 1986-S Statue of Liberty Silver Proof $1 (and a clad $.50); 1 1999 Dolley Madison Silver Proof $1; 1 2001 Capitol Visitor Silver Proof $1; 1 1992 Columbus Silver Proof $1 (and a clad $.50); 1 2002-W West Point Silver Proof $1; $1 1994 Capitol Silver Proof $1; 1 2010 ASE Silver Eagle, ANACS MS70 First Day of Issue; 1 2005 Superbowl XXXIX Silver Flip Coin (1 oz. silver); 1 1986-87 Silver Mickey Mouse Merry Christmas/Happy New Year Coin (1 oz. Silver); 1 1987 Proof Set :); 1 very odd set of 50 encapsulated state quarters with holograms imprinted somehow on the coins, in a velvet case; and 2 sets of similarly strange First Commemorative Mint "2004-05 Ultimate Nickel Collection," each with 18 "nickels," in a case, some colorized, some "gold" plated, some "platinum" plated, some with holograms, and each set with a very bright, very shiny 1936 Buffalo nickel.

I figure the melt at about $730 (not counting the proof set, the quarters, and the nickels). When I bid, I felt a lot like the Storage Wars guys. So, sometimes, even if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't (if I can figure out how, I'll post pictures of the lot).

Yep, if you hang out enough in the Buy It Now listings, you occasionally get a real steal. Some of them turn out to be bogus -- there was one guy who was listing clad quarter proof sets with a photo of a silver set -- but some are real.

I saw a double eagle flash by for $900 last night; don't know if it was real (I missed it), but it "felt" legit. Also saw some silver go by at less than 20x face, but I'm backing off some on silver until the market stabilizes.

    Congratulations on the snag!
