I just watched the first episode of Sons of Liberty on the History channel. I found the passing of coins to signify the those opposing the governor/king's taxes interesting. I know that this series is not 100% accurate, but is there any historical evidence that these coins were used in the manner described on the series, and if so, did any survive?

I looked all over for them. The closest thing I found was an article explaining that the Sons of liberty was a "secret" group, and members of the ring so to speak, wore a medalian so they could identify their selves as members. I was pretty let down by the whole series...I wss mostly annoyed by the way they portrayed John Handcock.
