However/ the Islamic Caliphates/ Indian Hindu Kingdoms and the Byzantine Empire kept minting gold coinage. Reason, probably they had sources of the metal from mines. The Visigoths in Hispania only minted gold upto their defeat (Umayyads)in 714.
