I love it. I don't even collect any of these coins, but I'm going to steal it and use it as my background one in a while. (If you don't mind of course.)
I have been using the same background image for several years now and had a lot of fun making the image. I would like to make another with a different set of my more recent coins but have not pushed myself to do it yet. The feature of note is that this image must be used on the tile setting and not stretched to fit or floated in the middle of the screen. If done properly, you should not be able to tell where the joins fall on the final product. I also decided to fade the image a bit so its business would not interfere with the icons which appear in full color and contrast. Exactly how much to weaken this background was not an immediate or easy decision. When I made this one, my computer was using a smaller screen but were I to do it today, I probably would make the coins proportionally larger. It is very much a matter of trial and error to find what looks best to you. Has anyone else made a tile format, repeating background image?
Repeating images don't look that well, it also bothers the eye for some people. The only time repeating images work is if you use a simple pattern or to create an optical illusion.
