I'm in full agreement with you that the 2017P cents will not see a premium in any of our lifetimes, my point is just to each their own. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who see coin collecting as a whole as a pointless endeavor. There are many people on here with many different methods of collecting, most of which (myself included) will probably never recoup their money from collecting. Some collect to cut a profit, others do it just as a hobby. I'm in the latter group myself, and I know many of the coins I collect are so modest in value that even finding a buyer would be difficult, but I still collect them anyway because I enjoy the history behind them and in many cases the thrill of the hunt.
Thanks mad stax. My brain was starting to swell trying to explain all this. Glad someone came and took over. You are awesome bro.
In this thread, no, I did NOT mean the P coin is worthless. What I meant was said best by poster "C-B-D" there, by answering to the "potential future value of the P coin?" as "Zero!", I couldn't say it better and so short. Of course, I am not sure about what he really meant by that. But, it perfectly fits what I meant here in this thread. Do we have a "zero" value coin anywhere in the World? No. Perfect candidate among available coins there for a zero value coin is the penny coin. And, it is not baseless, it is not imaginery/utopic to do this. (Anyway, I talk on such things here in this thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-without-any-number-figure.299880/page-17 ) So, I've not belittled these P penny coins in this thread, quite contrary, they are priceless coins, better to say, they can/may be priceless. Those P coins owned by Tyler now are not priceless, yet.
Okay can we stop please. I'm done you are done. We all are done talking about pointless crap. Enough seriously. This is annoying now.
It's pathetic that you would go to such lengths to talk about a pointless thing. I'm ignoring you and I will not acknowledge anything you say from here on out.
Well that escalated quickly and needlessly. The generosity of CT members is just astonishing and I'm just not surprised by it anymore. It's become a regular theme across all of the forums here and it shows that mainly anonymous people can enjoy the hobby for what it is. The value of the gift is secondary to the thought behind it.
OK guys, lets play nice. I agree it is satisfying to pay something forward. It is also satisfying to do things that make yourself individually happy. To some it is these small yet important things to others that allows them to rise above a daily existence. The poor person who donates a few coins to a cause may be a better person than a millionaire who donates $10, so goes the world. The last pages were not about coins nor coin collecting, they were about individuals philosophy, so take that to a different forum if one insists on continuing it. Treat every individual as well as you can on the forum. It doesn't belong to me, you, or anyone except the owner who wishes this forum to be a nice civilized forum for numismatic education, and it will be, So stop this line here. I am sure many in this thread have not read the rules. Do So. Thanks , Jim
I've read some of the rules but the rest is just common sense as it would be on any forum...respect at all times. But I have, admittedly, made some mistakes here for which I am guilty and sorry for. But I understand and am also done with this mess. Thanks for stepping in.
