I offered him a dollar, he says my sources are misinformed amateurs. Not sure where he learned this words.

 

You offered too much. Most of us give such coins away for free.

 

I'm surprised he didn't take the dollar. Those coins are worth well under a dollar.

 

You'd be surprised. Many blacksmiths advocate wearing less physical protection while working.

The rationale is that nothing will adequately protect you from hot metal, but wearing safety gear can make you absent minded. In some cases protective gear that will quickly melt or catch on fire is actually less safe than wearing nothing.
