These train fare notes were used as currency along the 191 mile route of the railroad, although it wasn't really a legal currency. My interest in them was due to it being local to the city I live in, as well as liking the vignettes. It was merged with other small railway systems prior to it being sold to Southern Railway on July 10, 1894. After the acquisition in 1894, the Charlotte, Columbia and Augusta name was dropped and the Southern Railway name was used. The 1 dollar note was the toughest one to find and was the only example I could locate anywhere.
