I don't know the die marriages of any of these coins, but it might be helpful for those who do if the images were taken straight on for each coin. Given that they are taken at an angle, they may be difficult to interpret if there are subtle differences.
The 1835 dime is JR-1 an R-1 the 1832 half dime is LM-12 an R-2 the 1833 dime appears to be JR-1 in its first marriage.(The reverse die was used for this marriage, then two other die varieties and then re-married to 1833 Obv 1) This is a little tentative due to the sharp angle of the images and the fact that the key areas are out of focus. If it is right this is an R-3. Can't help on the seated dime, not my field.
Thanks condor Could you recommend a reference guide for the capped dimes and half dimes for attributing and what not.
Yes I can, but you aren't going to like it. Bust dimes the book is Early United States Dimes 1796 - 1837 by David Davis, Russell Logan, Allen Lovejoy, John McCloskey, and William Subjack Published in 1984, long out of print and has never been reprinted. If you can find a copy expect to pay about $250. (They've come down, they used to be $400.) There are four copies on abebooks right now listed for between $255 and $350. There is one additional copy listed on Amazon for $425. For the half dimes the book is Federal Half Dimes 1792 - 1837 by Russell Logan and John McCloskey Published in 1998, also long out of print and never reprinted. This one is a little easier to find (Because it is newer) but you can still expect to pay $125 or more for a copy. (It was $50 when it was published) There are two copes currently on Amazon, one for $175 and one for $250. The second one is also listed on Abebooks for $225.
I was afraid of that, saw a couple on ebay on the dimes $225-$250 and was hoping there was something a little cheaper (guess not). And I need the pictures and pick up points and what not just makes it somewhat easier like the overton half book I used to have. Guess I'll start saving my penny's. Thank you.
