Was going through my world coins collection, rediscovered my US coins. These are like a quarter of my entire US coin collection (no pun intended). Not too shabby for someone that collects almost exclusively non-US foreign coins. 1841 (P) - this was a more recent pickup, thanks to the PA state treasury and their habit of mixing US and world coins in lots. 1869 (P) - got this one several years ago, oddly enough it was in a mixed foreign coin lot from a seller in the UK. I don't usually keep damaged coins, but I doubt I will ever see another of this date again. Isabella - I guess she could have been kind of cute by 1890's standards. 1918 (P) - Probably common, but has really nice luster and soft flashes of pinkish-redish-greenish tones. The eye appeal was too much for me to let go of it. 1932 (S) - One of the first better US coins I ever got. I think it's been dipped at some point before, but still has some light cartwheel luster.
As far as I know that date is pretty affordable in this condition. You just might have one sooner than you think
That 1841 is a very nice coin. I cant tell if those are hairlines in the upper left hand field of the obverse, but for such a scarce coin, she is still a winner. I wouldnt mind having her in my collection for a while. BTW I love US Quarters, probably my favorite denomination to collect.
Not sure Ken, The only chain mail I remember was a scam back in the 70's where you put in a dollar or two and hoped a hundred other people did the same, whereas you ended on the top of the list for a jackpot.
Ahha, yes that's true. Though it doesn't seem like cuteness standards changed much until the 20th century
