My collecting favorites are big silver and early copper. Most of my collecting has come to a halt now I have kids. Four sons. I miss it, but they are far more blessing than burden. I am downright jealous of your collection! Yow! I am working on a Dansco 7070 Type Set. I have about 60 of the 76. The first pages are complete, with pretty high grade coins. Type sets are fun. You can acquire proof coins for the more common ones very cheaply. I do love high grade coins, and its possible to find mint state and proofs of most types, but at shocking prices. And you sure dont want your kids handling them. They end up in slabs, in a safety deposit box. Type Sets cover the entire US history, and are fascinating to kids. The old denominations, large sizes, and real copper and silver, not to mention gold. I have run into people who had never seen gold presidential and sacawagea dollars. A kid was arrested for trying to spend a $2 bill. Most people have never seen a silver coin. $2 bill, silver certificate, gold coin, Ike dollar, Kennedy half. Certainly not a large cent, half cent, silver dollar or ASE. Type sets enable you to cover the entire history of US coins, with fascinating detail. And by collecting specimens in the XF range, people can get the full value impression of the coin and its place in time, without destroying its value. Coins are made to be held. Well, waiting my turn at winning the lotto to start collecting again, unless anyone out there is motivated to send me coins and or money for free. Hehe. I need mostly the big silver to complete my set. Trade dollar, seated liberty, 20 cent piece, etc. Keep collecting everyone.
