You can have all of the toned gold you want, I find it hideous Probably better I don't have a taste for gold, little out of my price range.
Here's my 1853, cleaned but still a nice gold coin at AU-58! I bought this one off of feebay in auction! Some gold coins look really nice Toned, I've never bought one tho' as I wouldn't want to pay a premium on top of a premium!
Am I correct that the toning of gold coins is tied to whatever other metal is part of the alloy, not the gold itself?
I was never really into gold coins mostly because of the expense. I do have some gold for my type set. Plus for the mint marks, I have a Charlotte and a Dahlonega half eagle. That's it.
. True, in terms of coinage, higher silver content will result in green-gold and higher copper content will result in orange/red gold. Gerry Fortin’s Blog covered this topic very nicely last week.
I love toned gold. I’ve owned some as I like crusty original skin and tend to buy coins of all denominations with
