Some kind of Error ???

Was seeking a few opinions on this Nickle. Please refer to pictures. Is this some kind of an error ? What I was most focused on was the "FIVE" Any and all opinions welcome.

Thank you I wasn't sure because I have never seen this before.

 

The older the Nickel the greater the chance of circulation wear and tear.
But good to ask. You never know.

 

It is pretty old 1940 Nickle

 

Old but damaged.

Welcome to CT. It's always a good idea to put a complete photo of the coin, obverse and reverse and then a close up such as you have so members can better evaluate the coin. As posted, it is PMD or post mint damage and without the exact date of the coin, it's obviously seen a lot of wear.
