Good day ladies and gentlemen, I thought this poor coin was surely a Marcus Aurelius but I realized I have no clue about it. 8.75 g 25.15 mm (I tried to take the best photos I could and edited them a little but I still don't like them) The obverse visible legend is AVRELIVS, so Marcus Aurelius . I studied it as close as I could and it is not Lucius Aelius. The reverse .... TR POT .... ...... ...... probably Minerva with a spear but that's all I'm sure about. Any help is greatly appreciated. My guess was http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.3.ant.1284A_as but it just doesnt look close enough.
Yep, looks like Marcus Aurelius. I'm thinking the reverse deity looks like Virtus to me. Might be tough narrowing it down further other than guessing about the reverse tribunal power number and obverse legend. http://numismatics.org/ocre/results...t_facet:"Marcus+Aurelius"+AND+fulltext:TR+pot
Thanks for checking. The problem is I cannot find any pictures on RIC online against Asses with Virtus :| http://numismatics.org/ocre/results?q=obv_legendCondensed_text:avrelivs*+AND+rev_legendCondensed_text:trpot*+AND+deity_facet:"Virtus"+AND+denomination_facet:"As"+AND+material_facet:"Bronze" But it narrowed down to 1323 or 1355 so much appreciated.
Maybe this? Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar, 139 - 161 AD AE Sestertius, Rome Mint, 31mm, 24.22 grams Obverse: AVRELIVS CAES AVG PII F, Bare head, draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus right. Reverse: TR POT XIII COS II S C, Virtus standing right, left foot on helmet, holding spear and parazonium. RIC1349Ab https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5999782
Thank you. A sestertius would have been even nicer in my collection, but for the time being this As will do A pity it's worn exactly where it would be clear to be attributed but it's OK.
