I first bought a lot of uncleaned coins like 3 or so years ago, which were overwhelming poor. I did trade one of those coins for a free buffet meal at a UCLA dining hall, which was worth $13 or so. Great deal, since I made back almost the entire investment on the uncleaned coins.</p><p><br /></p><p>Only about 6 or so months ago did I finally get into collecting Roman coins for real. I started with a $9.67 Augustus As, and then soon found myself spending over a thousand bucks on coins, much of which were pretty crummy.
