I think its very admirable that you come to the defense of Forum. Of course such things could not be said there as they would be censored.

For instance during a discussion regarding fakes, the owner of the site erased many long thoughtful posts about the subject from multiple posters. He then said he erased them because he felt the discussion would scare new possible buyers from buying coins from him for fear of fakes. Of course many of his experts are also sellers of his choosing with the same mind set. I have also seen so-called forum experts say outlandish things, when called on them, the thread is erased...

Just one example was when an expert stated that making a fake ancient coin was very expensive and required very large machines....this is just plain wrong. When I said this, the thread was edited or erased with a warning to me in private not to correct experts.

This is what I speak of....

I also say there there are abrasive elitist know-it-alls everywhere including this forum. I have said this before here and as for what people here, there or anywhere think of me, I am not terribly concerned. Nor do I think Joe is very concerned with what one or two posters say about him or his forum and store...I am sure it will be written off as a person who doesnt know what he is talking about. :)

It doesnt change the the fact that I find some of the people on forum intolerable. There are a few people on most forums I find intolerable, forum just has a few more than most. Its just an opinion I and some others have and its refreshing to be able to express an opinion without big brother editing it because someone doesnt agree.

I would also say that Forum is quite over priced these days although I still frequent the auctions here and there. The excuse given for the higher prices was that it takes time to photograph, ID, and post the coins, something he was doing before and something I do very quickly on my own for free. Of course he most likely IDs the coins in minutes or less and it takes maybe 15 minutes to an hour (tops) to photograph and post a coin...all rubbish of course...It would have been better if he simply said he jacked up prices because he can. :)

Let me also say that Forum is a great concept but flawed in several serious ways. Joe, a coin salesman, is arbiter of experts and who can say what. This means the so-called experts are mostly sellers like himself or people he has picked (thus they follow his lead)...and of course the heavy handed censorship and seller agenda is a problem.

Otherwise it is a useful forum with a few people who truly know what they are talking about.

I am not defending FORVM, but I take offense to the statement that many there are intolerable. That is ridiculous.

You obviously have some ax to grind with Joe, but that is a personal problem and probably best dealt with personally. I have disagreed with Joe on issues also, and had posts deleted, but I don't complain about it on other forums.

Honestly, if you don't like the policies and people on FORVM, stop going there!

I did for the most part. I mainly go there to check out the auctions these days. I have no ax to grind with Joe, it is his forum, he may run it as he pleases. I am also allowed to have an opinion regarding his forum and business. There is nothing wrong with posting in regards to my experiences there, if you dont like it, you might want to stop reading this thread as it seems you find it offensive. I can assure you nothing I have posted is false information. If you have a different opinion you are, of course, free to post them here...

As for the good parts to Forum? Good coins, most likely you will not have to worry about fakes, he stands behind his coins for life, fast delivery, fakes list, and fake sellers list among others.

Thanks for the permission, but I am done expressing my opinion, except for one thing. The word "opinion" is the much vaunted battle-cry of the internet, people use it in the belief that all opinions (especially their own) are of equal merit and validity, while in fact, they are not!

    Just my opinion!

That is whats great about this forum, I dont need permission to post my humble opinions regarding a seller and you dont need permission to get offended and post your own opinions regarding other peoples opinions. :) Might I add that your internet opinions appear to be of the highest caliber, well far and beyond your average internet opinion ;)
