Yep, my new thing is Jefferson, mainly because my collection of Circulated Classic Commemorative coins has stalled due to cant find the ones I need anywhere. Also my blue coin collection has stalled because I rarely find blue coins. So I started another collection that most dealers dont carry in their inventories, and hardly any coin shop in America carries nice looking UNC's. Now keep in mind I dont care about grade or steps. I'm very shallow and all I care about is looks. Here is what I got so far, its been a slow work in progress.
Slow work in progress.... Man that's a heck of a start. Great color and looks on those coins! Can't imagine what you'd have if it was a fast start
That 1942 D has an interesting looking mint mark. Not the 42 D over Horizontal D but it's different. If it were it be a $350.+/- coin. It does however look to be a RPM maybe a new one there are two known 001 &002. The 51 is really cool!
I liked the rainbow toned ones. very nice. gbroke might have some for sale for you. his Jeffersons are out of this world. blue coins get very expensive, but very cool to look at.
I may be in the minority on this, but I think my favorites are the ones with the streaky toning. Like the 51-D and the 39-S.
I keep Jeffersons on the back burner but a set I actively pursue. I am actually building two sets, one in a Dansco that contains mostly Gems and Toners, and the other I call the Ultimate Jefferson Set which basically consists of all the harder to obtain Jeffersons like the early proofs, the varieties, the 94 and 97, the war nickels, etc. Pretty much all the 'key' coins to a complete-complete set. They are addicting too! I wish the Full Step Nickel Club was still around and meeting and sharing knowledge
