This piece of crap will stand out like a sore thumb where ever he prowls.
What a piece of work...I think he is going after the low end inventory because he feels he wont be scrutinized as thoroughly.

The fat slob probably still lives at home with his mother.

What was the actual charge he plead guilty to? Sorry if it was already posted.

Not to worry S - You will not be living at home when you reach this guys age! If you are - it will only be because you are running some major company and your mom is helping with the kids while your wife is running one of your other very successful businesses!

Thanks for the laugh though... It's been a really bad day among weeks of bad news - so I really needed it!!!

It was petty theft, apparently his first offense for this, though the DA inferred he had a conviction for something else but wouldn't tell me. His fine was only $500, plus I'm assuming he probably had to pay something for an attorney, so at least that's something.

When this first started I thought how cool it would be if the other dealer had pressed charges for theft with a second charge for possession of stolen property on the coins he took from you. I actually didn't think the theft charge would hold up without the other dealers help. Glad he got something.

Speaking as someone who had their entire collection stolen (including the 11 silver dollars that my grandmother willed to me -- the only things I had of her), I commend you, Penny Lady! You GO, gal!

Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but since I saw it listed Raider's TOTW post, I thought I'd give ya'll an update on this hardheaded (or just plain sicko) thief.

I'll call the Bakersfield incident in this thread Part 1 and the Santa Clara incident Part 2.

    And here's Part 3.

Fast forward to the San Jose show in January 2010 where I'm set up. On the first day of the show shortly after it opened, the security guard stops by my table and tells me another dealer told him a coin thief who had previously stolen coins from me wanted to enter the show, and did I want allow him in or would I prefer that he be asked to leave.

First, I couldn't believe that the Bakersfield thief had the nerve to attend yet ANOTHER show, especially one where I was at!

Second, I was incredulous that they would even ask the question! Of course I wanted that scum sent packing immediately.

I asked the security guard why they would even want a convicted coin thief walking around the show? They said they had no cause to keep him from entering the show, but that I could since I was a dealer at the show and I had cause since he had stolen from me.

So I followed the security guard up to the front door, but the thief had already slipped into the show. I found him at one of the front tables and pointed him out to the security guard. The security guard told the thief to finish up what he was doing and to leave the show.

The dealer at that table asked me what was going on, so I explained that he was a convicted coin thief who had stolen from me and that I didn't want him in the show. The dealer got a big smile on his face, withdrew whatever items the thief was looking at and told the thief the coins were no longer for sale. The thief was then ejected from the show.

Later, that dealer came up to me and told me he was so glad I did what I did, that not many dealers would take the effort to keep a thief out. I said I only did what was right, what I'd hope any other dealer would do. Sadly, he said that many dealers would just rather get their coins back (or sometimes even have the thief pay for and keep the coins), rather than prosecute the thief.

I just shook my head and said what a shame, that the thief who is never punished, will never stop being a thief.

Any way, I just couldn't resist posting another follow up on this persistent thief!

Way to go, Charmy! I'm glad that you stood your ground. My only regret is that you didn't ask him to pose for a photo so you could post it on all of the coin forums.

oh, believe me, I did take photos, and even posted them on the forums, but they were removed - you know, privacy issues and all.

The show people took his photo and have posted it at their shows.

You know this system $uck$ when someone is more concerned about the privacy of a low-life thief over the safety of a poor slob busting his/her butt to make a living.

1st. Be glad you have some insulation from such slime.

    2nd:

Be glad it was not a knife show where demos are required.

Good going Charmy! Somebody has to stand up to this lousy people. Make them beg, cry and hopefully learn a lesson.

BTW, if you get a copy of the guys picture, you should take him out here on the public.:kewl:

Im assuming he has gone to court already, so I am thinking that perhaps his probationary order may be to stay away from these shows?
Check it out and lets nail this piece of scum to the wall again.
Lets be honest, he was only at that show to steal once again..
